WINDSOR (CA) -- Community altars on display, a new Tree of Life, live entertainment, a lowrider car show, food, local makers and more will bring the community together for remembrance and celebration throughout October as part of Windsor’s Dia de Muertos 2026.

The Windsor Town Green will come alive with color, music, dance, costumes, cars, food, and more Saturday, Oct. 31, for the grand finale Dia de Muertos Celebration on the Green from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Windsor Town Green

The 2026 celebration begins with a Community Decoration Day on the Green. Everyone is invited to come out and help transform the Bosque/Grove picnic table area of Windsor Town Green into a festive and welcoming remembrance space.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to participate as we decorate the Green in preparation for Día de los Muertos.

Altars on the Green
Saturday, Oct.18
through Sunday, Nov. 2
Families, community groups and local businesses are invited to create an ofrenda (family altar) to display on the Windsor Town Green in memory of loved ones who have passed. If you are interested in setting up a public ofrenda/altar display on the Green, email Somos Windsor at hola@somoswindsor.org for guidelines.
Ofrenda displays should use copies of photos, not originals. Ofrenda items should be able to stand up to rain, wind, and other Windsor weather for October.Any resident of Windsor is welcome to create an ofrenda as part of the display on the Town Green.
Everyone from Windsor and across Sonoma County is invited to tour the ofrenda display throughout the month of October. The public display of family artwork is a chance to learn about the people being remembered and experience this meaningful Día de los Muertos tradition together.
New this Year:
Tree of Life Memory Wall
Oct. 18 – Nov. 2
Windsor Town Green

Somos Windsor is adding a new public art display this year: a tree of Life Memory Wall. Organizers will create a “wall” of display space on the Town Green with a “Tree of Life” at its center.
In partnership with the Windsor Branch of Sonoma County Library, anyone intrested can visit the Windsor Library to create a memory leaf with pre-cut colored paper “leaves.” Somos Windsor will loan the pens and pencils for use inside the library and supply the pre-cut paper leaves. The Library is offering help and indoor space to create them. Participants can visit the library to create a memory leaf with the name or special memory about a loved one now passed on, written on the back. Creators can then take their memorly leaf, and attach it to the "Tree of Life" display wall on the Green.
Participants may also bring their own laminated or otherwise waterproof copy of a photograph or special item to attach to the Tree of Life display. (No original photos, please.)
Somos Windsor intends the new Tree of Life display to be a community memorial, where families, friends and neighbors can celebrate those who continue to live in our hearts, according to event organizers.
